Gratitude Post 3

As I look out across the sea here in Roatan, observing the countless stars above me, standing on top of the smooth sand beneath me, I am grateful.

This experience is the inspiration for this month’s gratitude post.

Mother Earth

It’s incredible to think that whomever we may be, wherever we may live, in this experience of life, we are all children of this abundant Earth.

Whether walking the beaches in Honduras, hiking through the Rocky Mountains in Utah, exploring the Puget Sound in Washington, or trekking across the Sierra Nevadas in California, we are upon this same Mother Earth.

If you are walking the streets of Bangkok, planting crops in Ethiopia, fishing in Japan, or sitting in a cafe in Paris, we are still upon and a part of this same Mother Earth.

Each piece of fruit and vegetable we have ever eaten has also been a product of this abundant planet that has helped to provide us with this incredible life.

Each mammal, each fish and each fowl we’ve ever eaten has, like us, been a child of this fruitful Mother Earth.

Be Grateful.

Great Sky

It is hard to dismiss the truth that we are walking upon an abundant planet which has assisted in providing us with life to experience.

It’s even harder to dismiss our connection with the stars above us, our connection with the Great Sky.

It was a few years back that I embraced the importance of our Oneness with the stars that shine in the nighttime sky. A few months ago I returned to this reflection and the other night I had an even greater realization of the importance of the unity we have with the stars above us.

It is easy to see that all this planet of Earth really is, is a combination of the elements found in the rich universe that surrounds us. Elements that were once contained within stars and galaxies which combined in such a way that life now blossoms from them.

Even when you look at the composition of our individual bodies you will see that we too have stardust within us. Think of all the elements that fill our being, the main one being Carbon. They all came from this universe we are a part of.

Honor the Great Sky above by knowing that we are a piece of the Whole.

Grateful For Life

In my opinion, there is an underlying Essence that runs through our Mother Earth, the Great Sky and all of their children.

This underlying Essence is Life.

Call it God, Jah, Allah, Light, Love, Energy, Intelligence, Divinity, or Life. I’ve yet to find a word that encompasses the All-Encompassing.

This Essence of Life dwells within each of us and that Essence of Life is ever-present.

Cultivate More Gratitude

I would like to finish this third Gratitude Post by sharing 3 Keys that will assist you in finding more gratitude by embracing the beauty of Mother Earth, the abundance of the Great Sky, and the Essence of Life which fills all things.

#1 – Loving Mother Earth – You can show your appreciation for this abundant planet we are upon by taking care of it. Things such as picking up trash in your community, buying things that support the well-being of the Earth and spending time in the bountiful fields, lush mountainsides, beachfronts, rivers, deserts and plains that cover this incredible planet.

#2 – Loving the Great Sky – Look up often. Not just at the stars above you, but look up within your own consciousness as well. Embrace your oneness with the stars. Know that you are literally a descendant of ancient stars that once filled the night sky. You too are a Light which shines in this experience of existence.

#3 – Loving Life – Practice random acts of kindness unto others and unto yourself. When we spend time honoring the Life within another, we too honor the Life within ourselves. When we find ways to truly honor the Life within us with peace, appreciation and love, we effortlessly honor the Life within all.

I am grateful for you.

I know that if we look deep enough we can see that we are all One Family.

Your Life and my Life are valuable. Through the Life within us both, the entire universe awaits our discovery of it.
