Inexhaustible: The Power of Faith
There are formulas for success that have been passed down by people for thousands of years. If you are seeking to become more, to make more money, or to impact more people all you have to do is look at these tested and tried formulas then add them to your life.
Some of the greatest formulas to create a life of success can be uncovered in the inspiring writings of Napoleon Hill. In his books, Think and Grow Rich and The Master-Key To Riches, he lays out a step-by-step process to create a successful life.
I’ve been going over these books recently and have been reminded of simple habits like going the extra mile, having a definite purpose in life, being around positive people and keeping a positive mental attitude. There was one insight that stood out as I was rereading these books this last week.
The Power of Faith.
Faith is a word that gets thrown around a lot, especially in spiritual communities. Because of that, I’d like to share a story that can help us develop an inexhaustible faith we can tap into as we move throughout our lives.
Power of Faith
If you want to get a boost in faith, think about this story.
I remember a time in my life when I returned to visit my hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. On this visit it seemed like everything in my life was going wrong. I was in debt, my family was struggling, I could barely afford my plane ticket and my future was unclear.
As I looked up at the towering mountains surrounding me, I decided to take a drive up the canyon to get away from the city life. I drove up the mountain and found a parking spot next to the trailhead. This was to be my classroom for the afternoon.
Walking up the trail, I picked up a pine cone and looked at it intensely. I saw its unique structure proudly shining in the sun. I peered up and saw a large pine tree looking down upon me and I thought about the mother tree this pine cone fell from. This caused me to think about all that went into producing this small cone I was holding. The sun, the soil, the air and the mother tree. Within this pine cone was the blueprint for a dynamic tree that has yet to sprout.
As I continued on my hike, I saw a flower swaying in the cool breeze. Its splendid colors reflected a peace that people seldom find. I looked closely at this flower, seeing the pollen stems, the green stalk, the vibrant petals standing in the dark soil. Man, even with his greatest inventions cannot replicate the majestic glory of a small flower on the mountainside. There is an Infinite Intelligence that flows through countless elements and experiences to allow even the tiniest flower to bloom.
Traveling deeper on the trail, I came across a small river. I sat next to it looking at the water flow over and around the large rocks scattered in the center of the river.
This clear water caused me to think about the all that has gone into producing this pure water flowing forth from the mountain springs. I thought about the elements of hydrogen that have accumulated over time forming unique bonds with oxygen to produce the water I was seeing. Marveling at this realization, I recognized the water I watched flow past me was pure and provided the basic foundation for life on this planet.
It is water and the planet earth that has been essential in the development of human existence. Without water, the earth would be without plants, animals and you and I. Watching this water made me feel grateful as I thought about all that has gone into creating who I am today. Thinking about my ancestors and parents as well as the abundant universe that has been ever expanding to create all.
At this time I picked up a small rock sitting at my side. Grabbing this small pebble I lifted it towards the sun and looked at its variety of colors. Small minerals and fragments reflected in the light. While it seemed this rock was lifeless, I realized that deep within this small pebble were atoms and electrons popping in and out of existence. This small pebble reflected the abundant universe we are from.
This small pebble shared wisdom, confidence, and persistence to be, existing for billions of years in a variety of forms only to be picked up by me to express its wisdom. I was humbled and inspired thinking of this small pebble greeting me along my hike.
The sun slowly set. Its beautiful colors changed the landscape as the nighttime stars shone. I knew this was the time for me to return to my car and enter back into city life.
Walking down the path I was in awe of the wisdom and knowledge this short hike provided. The pine cone, the flower, the river, the pebble and the nighttime sky.
What I understood was that at any moment we can connect to this abundant life that greets us each day of our experience.
We can take a moment and connect to the breath we are breathing, our heart that is beating and cells dividing.
When we recognize this connection, we see that wherever we may be, regardless what we are experiencing, we are supported by Life. This understanding is the pathway to endless faith, hope, and confidence.
3 Keys To Greater Faith
#1 – Open To Guidance – Keep your mind and heart open to the guidance of Life by way of stillness, meditation, and prayer. Listen to your hunches and follow your intuition. Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve. The answers to unlock your dreams can be found within you.
#2 – Free the Mind of All Negativity – A mind filled with negativity does not have the capacity to be in alignment with the ever-present flow of good. Keep your mind free of negativity by surrounding yourself with positive people, inspiring books, movies and keeping a positive mental state. When you are focused on the positive, positivity reveals itself everywhere you go.
#3 – Equivalent Seed of Success – Know that every failure, setback, discouragement or unfortunate situation brings with it a seed of equivalent success. Don’t allow yourself to become weighed down by frustrations, instead, remain persistent. Everything worth having has a price that must be paid by way of action. You are the only one who can bring the actions forth from your being.
