Ancient, Untold Black History

Untold Black History

Throughout school I often wondered why there were no proper representations of Africans in my history books. I recall reading things about Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington, but it seemed like something was missing. I understand that America and many European countries have been built upon atrocities toward other races and especially black Africans, but I remember asking, “Wasn’t there history before America was formed and the European empires planted their flags across the globe?”

Because it’s black history month here in the states, I feel like it is a great time to share some  of the ancient, untold black history that is often left out of our educational systems, forgotten by the news outlets, and generally overlooked by many people on our planet.

Let us honor our roots.

Important Note: Please know that at the depths of everything, we are all one. From my perspective there is One Essence, One Power, One Presence that flows through all beings, all planets, all atoms and all things. Some call this Presence God, others call it Energy, some call it the Universe. This post is designed to open the eyes and minds of those seeking to understand deeper truth and embrace the incredible impact the African people have had on our globe.

Ancient, Untold Black History

A little over a year ago I wrote a post on TKL about some of the profound things the history books left out about the African people. I mentioned things like the numerous civilizations that populated the African continent before any castle was ever built in Europe. I highlighted inventions like aqueducts, sewer systems, agriculture, paper and mathematics all of which blossomed out of Africa, which was first called Alkebulan, Ethiopia and Kush. I highlighted the power of the Moors and ancient African spirituality that nearly all religions are derived from.

Today I would like to open your mind to acknowledge other powerful impacts the African people have had on the life you and I currently live. I would like to bring to light some of the history that the education systems have left out for the past few hundred years.

Open minds discover new worlds.

Seek knowledge, uncover truth and see the hidden connections that flow through all.

Untold Black History That Should Be Researched By All

#1 – History – In America it seems they teach us a history that began when Columbus set sail from Spain in search of India, however, they never bring into the minds of the youth that ancient Africans were sailing across the globe before any castle in England was built. While some may challenge this remark, I would encourage all minds to look into the true history that began before the kings of Europe and ask yourself, who taught the Spaniards, the Romans, the French and the English how to build their temples, cathedrals and castles? After asking yourself these questions you will see there are over 200 pyramids in Sudan, ancient structures throughout Ghana, the Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria that predate the most popular European structures by thousands of years.

Opening your mind to this history that dates back over 8,000+ years you’ll see all architecture, agriculture, mining, fishing, sewer systems and sailing blossomed from the motherland, Africa.

#2 – The Shabaka Stone – It is interesting that ancient and holy artifacts of Africa are stored in the basement of the Vatican and locked up in museums throughout Europe. One of these powerful artifacts is the Shabaka Stone that was discovered in Egypt. The Shabaka Stone contains a very similar story to that which people study religiously in the Book of Genesis. Could you imagine what it would be like if the wisdom of Ancient Africa was shared as abundantly as the story of Martin Luther, as freely as the Bhagavad Gita, as popularly as the works commissioned by King James or the Catholic popes?

#3 – Book of the Dead – God Ra – In addition to the Shabaka Stone which depicts the story of Genesis, the Book of the Dead is another ancient African book that inspired the bible. From the story of Horus that is nearly identical that of Jesus, to the ten commandments, to the story of the holy trinity… all of these were contained in this deeply spiritual book that predated the bible by hundreds, if not thousands of years, and was written by the Egyptians. One interesting thought to consider is that the wisdom of the Egyptians blossomed from ancient seeds that were spread throughout the African continent thousands of years before the first stones of the pyramids were laid in Egypt.

Just imagine the ancient spiritual texts our eyes have never seen that flowed forth from empires throughout Africa which predated even the powerful Egyptian empire.

#4 – Jerusalem – In religious text, the story of King David and his son Solomon are of high value. I was thinking about their stories and remembered that Solomon was married to Queen Sheba of Ethiopia. This made me look up the time period when Jerusalem was built and it was around the same time the copper age began, nearly 4000 BC. With some common sense, we can look at ancient history and see that the greatest empires during that time were flourishing in Africa. This logic led me to the realization that Jerusalem was built by ancient Africans who ventured north to the so called “Holy Land”. While some may disagree with this, it is my belief that the true Jewish people are Africans whose heritage was rooted in Ethiopia, Kenya and Sudan.

#5 – Two Dominant Religions – Christianity and Islam are the two biggest religions on our planet. Both of these religions blossomed from Africa and the Middle East, yet when we see depictions highlighting historical figures from these religions, especially Christianity, the lack of African representation in paintings, sculptures and stories makes one question what may be hiding beneath the letters, scriptures and stories they share. Remember the story of Jesus is said that his parents took him to Egypt.

#6 – Modern History & Inventions – In addition to ancient African inventions and discoveries like writing, art, mining, medicines, mathematics, iron work, international trade, laws and philosophy, there are other overlooked modern day inventions that blossomed from great black minds. Remember, in America where slavery had a stronghold, it was against the law for any colored person to hold a patent for their inventions, so many of these were accredited to the masters or people who claimed ownership of these enlightened human beings.

Some modern day inventions the history books left out are the wooden clock, invented by Benjamin Banneker, the steam operated boat propeller, invented by Benjamin Montgomery, the incandescent light bulb, discovered by Lewis Latimer, many cosmetic products invented by CJ Walker, and many other inventions include the fireproof safe, pacemakers, the printing press, oil stoves, and refrigerator just to name a few. So why are these powerful insights and ancient African wisdom buried under misinformation?

As I asked myself this question something prompted me to look up how many African countries had not been colonized by European nations. I found that of the 54 African countries, all of them had been colonized at some point.

The two that were the most briefly colonized are Liberia and Ethiopia. This led me to the conclusion that the reason Ancient African wisdom isn’t freely shared is because the colonizers either destroyed it, hid it, or simply never shared it.

Hence the reason many of Africa’s holiest items and ancient artifacts are tucked away in European museums. Hence the reason the history books left out the powerful legacy and impact of the African people.

They who win the war write the history. Next time you are in a classroom or looking through a history book be mindful of the people they highlight, then based on what you see, ask yourself, “who do I feel they left out?”

It is time for us all to look with eyes of truth and be willing to open our minds to the whispers that flow from the ancient civilizations of our globe.
