6 Lessons Learned from the First Month of Three Key Life

Beginning of a Journey

About a year ago I had an idea,

“Start writing down your thoughts and organize them, maybe they can become something greater.”

I let my mind explore the possibilities of sharing my thoughts. Those possibilities eventually grew into the idea of building a blog.

I didn’t know the first things about html, web hosting, rss feeds or wordpress, what I enjoyed was writing.

I dreamed.

I spent time almost everyday, pulling unique thoughts out of my mind and putting them down on paper.

I also spent time envisioning what it would be like to have my own site, a place that represents me.

The more ideas I put down on paper, the more I saw that this could actually form into something. Around the same time, I got introduced to a gentleman who specialized in wordpress sites.

I shared my ideas with him and a few months later Three Key Life was born.

Incredible how everything starts with just an idea.

Even more incredible is how an idea acted upon can produce a completely new experience.

1st Month of Three Key Life

This marks the 1 month celebration of Three Key Life.

I am still surprised with myself for following through with the blog and podcast, finding the courage to share my messages with you.

And no, I won’t be celebrating each month anniversary of Three Key Life with a post. I just want to take a moment and share the things I’ve learned this first month with you, in hopes that you may use some of these things on your own path to unlocking your greatness.

Lesson 1 – Consistency Breeds Opportunity

I believe consistently sharing the content that pours from our hearts is one of the greatest things anyone could do.

The willingness to be authentic.

I’ve also found that not everyone will agree with the things that flow from our hearts.

But by consistently putting out empowering and inspiring content on my blog I believe that now almost anyone can find one post on Three Key Life that motivates them to become better.

Lesson 2 – Appreciate the Highlights

Through that consistency, the blog has seen nearly 700 visitors in its first month. This brings so much joy to my being.

Our most popular post this 1st month was the Doorways of Doubt, a story about the dark hallways of doubt we all face in the pursuit of recognizing our gifts.

In addition to the blog seeing a steady flow of traffic, the podcast has been downloaded over 550 times.

It has also received some great ratings and reviews from a few of you.

Because of your support, The More Than Money Podcast is now “New and Noteworthy” in the Religion and Spirituality section of iTunes. If you’ve yet to subscribe click here.

I am more than thankful for all of you.

Lesson 3 – Embrace the Struggles

I have to be honest with you. There have been some great moments this first month, but there has also been some major growing required on my end.

There were many hurdles this first month and there still continue to be plenty now. But like I mentioned in episode 5 of the More Than money Podcast, hurdles and struggles can be seen as stepping stones that take you to higher places in life or as the ball and chain which shackles you in place.

I chose to see each struggle and hurdle I faced this 1st month as a stepping stone that was necessary for me to reach higher levels of my life. Each one perfectly placed, each one here for a reason.

I’ll admit that around 90% of the struggles I’ve faced have been internal.

What I mean by this is that they live no where else but within myself, usually within my mind.

Some such struggles include being ok with people not liking what I write, valuing and respecting everyone’s opinion, ensuring I set aside time to take care of myself, and remaining centered in Life.

I’ve also had to learn how to say “no” more often. I’ve never liked saying no, but now I realize that by saying no to something I don’t want to do, I say yes to something I do want to do.

Another struggle that I’ve faced this month is having a solid stream of interviews for the More Than Money Podcast. I would like to apologize to you for dropping the ball in that regard.

I will be working diligently to bring you inspiring guests throughout the month of March.

As I mentioned, each struggle and hurdle is here for a reason. I am excited to push through these petty issues and see what the next wall of hurdles is that I’ll have to climb.

Each time we climb over the walls of adversity we build strength. Be thankful for the things that challenge you, they require you to grow.

Lesson 4 – Be Grateful for the Unexpected Surprises

These unexpected surprises are my favorite.

They are my favorite because if I would have let lack of confidence and fear paralyze me, these unexpected surprises would have never been (at least in the way they have currently aligned).

My top unexpected surprise is the relationships I am building and developing with you, the readers.

People such as Jonny Murdock who has been helping edit every post here on Three Key Life, or Richmond Tyrrell who’s sent encouraging words my way. Others are my mother’s friend from my youth Kimberly Rigby and my sister’s co-worker Kristi-Ann.

Everyone else who has sent an email, text, or left comments on the blog, thank you for helping me become a better person. You inspire me.

Lesson 5 – Keep Moving Forward

Expect the same flow and consistency, 5 days a week of inspiring, empowering information. I’ll also be working on getting some great interviews for you on the More Than Money Podcast.

In the next month or two, look forward to taking some voyages with me throughout the states and Central America.

Lesson 6 – Endless Thank You’s

To end this post I would like to let you know that without you none of these highlights would be possible. Thank you for being apart of the Three Key Life community.

This is a great opportunity for you to realize that you can begin taking steps in the direction of your dreams. Three months ago none of this existed for me, it was only an idea.

If I can begin to pursue my dreams and see slow but steady results, I know that you can do the same thing.

If I can help you in any way, let me know.

Thank you again for your inspiration and motivation.

Is there something in particular you would like me to write about on Three Key Life?

Let me know in the comments below.
