Countless Miles
Why does it seem like the majority of us aim for average?
I’ve had the opportunity to live in four different states. In each place I’ve lived I have witnessed only a handful of people push themselves, their limits and their realities to new levels of life.
Unfortunately, that may only be 1% or 2% of the people I’ve encountered. I myself, have found that I too often aim for average.
Not saying there is anything wrong with that. If that’s what you would like for your life then by all means go for it, but I know we can be greater, much greater.
It seems the majority of us finish high school with an average size dream. A dream that sends us to an average college, gets us an average degree, to help land us an average job that can help us establish an average life that keeps us in our comfort zone.
If this is what you are aiming for, I fully support you. However, if you believe you are capable of something better, a life far from average, then I’d like to share a map with you.
With so many people aiming for average, there are some roadways very few people travel.
Separate yourself from the crowd. Aim for exceptional. You’ll find that there’s no traffic if you go the extra mile.
Push yourself past average.
Go the extra mile.
Extra Mile: Less Traffic
Keep a high vision in your mind of yourself and your life. Aim for that high vision. Push yourself to do what is necessary today to bring that vision into reality.
By doing those few, simple things, you’ll see that you’re already propelling yourself higher than the majority of people, freeing yourself from the crowd.
We can change and customize the experiences we have by the way we spend our time, the visions we hold for our lives, and how far we are willing to push ourselves for the attainment of our goals.
I by no means am I saying be a work-aholic. I am simply reminding you that the same energy you use to aim for and create an average life, can be used in aiming at an exceptional life with extraordinary experiences.
Use your energy in ways the majority of people don’t.
Think intentionally. Live consciously. Go the extra mile.
Extra Mile: Greater Results
As we begin to intentionally go the extra mile, expand the vision we have for our lives and use our energy to accomplish that vision, greater and greater results begin to reveal themselves.
By building this habit of going the extra mile, we begin injecting a new sense of purpose in the once average, mundane experiences of our day to day life.
This is caused by sharpening our saw. More specifically, spending more time on our gifts, more focus on our vision and recognizing the exceptional things we are all capable of.
3 Keys To Help You Go The Extra Mile
#1 – Mentally Going the Extra Mile – Take time to inwardly know why you are doing what you do. Create a vision for your life and see the steps you must take to reach the pinnacle. Remind yourself often of this vision and keep your “WHY” close to you.
*Why – why you are doing what you are doing and who will benefit from it?
#2 – Going the Extra Mile in Business or Work – Use your mental vision as fuel to push you to do exceptional work today. Look within your place of work, your field of expertise or the world itself and identify with the people who are consistently going the extra mile in their work. Know that you too can create these types of results. Emulate the successful people that you look up to in business. Do that until you are pulled into the mental awareness of going the extra mile in even the smallest things you do.
#3 – Going the Extra Mile in Your Inner Game – Remind yourself each morning and night that it is more than possible to achieve exactly what you set out to accomplish. The same energy that helped you create your current reality can be used today to create a life of exceptional beauty. Know that it is you who must empower you. Go the extra mile in supporting, encouraging, empowering, inspiring and loving yourself from within.
Each time you go the extra mile, even the slightest bit, you separate yourself from the crowd.
