Cleaning the Lens You Use To View The World
Did you hear the story about the man who spent his whole life viewing the world through a pair of dirty glasses?
Each day he spent his time pointing his finger at all the blemishes, spots and scratches he saw in the world.
Everywhere he looked he saw the same dark patches and deep scratches appearing in each environment he entered. He would try to tell others about these hideous marks that filled the world around him, but few could see the ills he spent so much time complaining about.
One day this man’s granddaughter approached him and asked why his glasses were always so dirty? She asked her grandpa if he could even see out of his lenses?
The man burst out with anger, seeing the same spots, scratches and marks filling this granddaughter’s face.
The family realized that this man would never clean his glasses, therefore, he would always see the same problems and issues everywhere he went.
Many of us carry a blemish-filled perspective with scratches, dark spots, and filth everywhere we go.
What Lens Are You Using To View The World?
Lenses
What lens or perspective are you using to view the world around you?
Are you using the same lens your parents used? The same one passed down from your grandparents and great grandparents?
Are you using the lens that one of your old friends provided you?
Are you seeing the same blemishes everywhere?
Asking ourselves these questions, we can better understand the perspective we are using to move through our world. Most people go their entire life without ever adjusting the perspective their parents passed down to them.
Racism, materialism, and militarism continue to flourish today because so many refuse to clean the lens they are using to view the world.
A large majority are unwilling to explore the TRUTH that we are the ones who empower our perspective. We are the ones who choose the lens we use each day of our lives.
The Eye Behind the Eye
Opening your consciousness to these questions helps one realize that they are seeing with the Eye behind the eye.
What I mean by this is that it is the inner eye, the Essence which you are, the power which enables you to awaken each morning, that determines the way you color your physical world.
You are the viewer, the person who determines how things appear in your life. You are the one who is assembling and empowering your perspective each moment of each day.
By cleaning our lens we can change the way we see things within our individual minds. As we do this, the physical world will change, reflecting the transformation which took place within.
You are Life.
3 Keys To Empowering your Perspective: How to Clean Your Lens
Clean your lens and refresh your perspective with these 3 Cloths.
#1 – The Cloth of No Complaining – For this entire day don’t complain about anything happening out there in the world. Instead, shift the perspective and clean the lens in which you view all these ills you complain about. Use your perspective to see peace, hope, inspiration, compassion and a light of truth in the dark places.
Key: if you are focused on the light, how can darkness appear?
#2 – The Cloth of Understanding – If one seeks to understand before they cast judgement, they will immediately uncover a new way of seeing things. For instance, these past few weeks Baltimore and many other cities have been experiencing large protests and rioting in some cases. I urge you not to cast judgment upon this person or that, instead seek to understand. See them for the human beings they are, realizing that you have the ability to live your life in such a way that you can be the source of peace in those “hostile” places.
You are the solution.
#3 – Cloth of Gratitude – When you view the world with grateful eyes, everything you cast your sight upon shines in its magnificence. Learn to see the innumerable things for which you have to be grateful for.
Question to Ask Yourself Each Evening
Did I spend more time focused upon the negatives of the world or the innumerable positives that surrounded me this day?
