3 Keys To Sharing Your Gifts with the World

It was in 2008 that I finally pulled my thoughts together into a small little book that I could share with people in the Seattle area. This book consisted of a variety of inspirational poems that were accumulated over a few months and blossomed out from within myself.

After I got them printed up I hit the streets of Seattle and sold as many as I could. I still remember the first day walking through downtown with a backpack filled with books, anxious, nervous and hoping to sell the 50 I had with me.

After walking through the streets for a few hours I returned to my car defeated. I sold ZERO. Despite the realization that it was going to be a little more difficult than I originally thought, I persisted forward with a goal to sell a few hundred.

Over the next few months, hundreds turned to a thousand, and I was getting the hang of selling and sharing my gifts with others.

One day I was in the city with some friends selling these books, I wandered into a unique area of Seattle called Columbia City, where a lady was extremely interested in the poetry. She purchased one and invited me back to a community meeting where she introduced me to some people that are some of my greatest friends to this day.

I share this story with you because you never know where your gifts will take you once you make room for them to blossom out from within yourself.

After 8 solid years of friendship and countless performances throughout the Pacific Northwest, my great friends who I met on that fateful day (videographer extraordinaire, Aaron “DJ Kuhnex” Jacob, community activist and lyricist, Jamil Suleman, and phenomenal painter and artist, Ari “Reverie” Glass) and myself are launching our first collective tour through the West Coast of the USA called Graffiti Village. For the next two months we are touring for 7500+ miles, expressing our gifts to uplift and empower each person we have to talk with. See our route here.

I was speaking in Seattle last October when Jamil and Aaron started shooting ideas out about the Graffiti Village Tour. Being that we are all about uplifting and empowering as many people as possible, they talked about a tour that would start in Seattle, head to Portland, Eugene, Sacramento, the Bay Area, LA, San Diego, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Denver, Missoula, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver B.C. and end in Seattle.

On this tour we would perform musically, speak at schools and spiritual communities, stop at the national parks along the way and unite with various Native American Tribes on our route. On top of this, Aaron would document it all.

As we talked more and more about this, it blossomed from an idea to something we were going to make happen. After long conference calls ironing out the details of the trip and many studio sessions recording music, the tour launched on the 31st of March from Seattle.

I share this with you to encourage you to bring your gifts out into the world. Take the steps necessary to grow and develop into the you that you are here to be.

It doesn’t happen overnight, but with the right people around you, belief in your heart and persistence, you can make major progress towards fulfilling your dreams.

You can join our movement as we seek to impact thousands of people.

3 Keys To Sharing Your Gifts With the World

#1 – Follow Your Intuition – Trust in yourself. If you believe you have gifts within you, then take the steps necessary to share those gifts with others. If you can’t see the gifts within you, then just simply look deeper. We all have greatness within, but the majority of people suppress those gifts, give in when it gets tough, or never open their mind to what is possible for their life. It all comes down to being in tune with yourself and aware of what you’d like to create in your life, otherwise life will mold you, and overtime your gifts slip from your mind and heart, causing you to settle.

#2 – Movement and Action – If you sense gifts within you and feel encouraged to share them with others, you must move forward. You can have incredible dreams and ideas about what you’d like to create in your life but without action, movement and implementation, these dreams and gifts remain in your mind and serve no one. Brushing your gifts to the side and not implementing them eventually causes feelings of regret, guilt and shame as you sink into an average and mediocre existence.

#3 – Make a Difference For The Better – Regardless if you know you have gifts or not, ensure you are using your energy in a way that you are making a difference for the better. Not all of us will launch our own businesses, hone our voices, build schools, grow community gardens or develop new technology, many of us will simply work at a job we enjoy and coast through life having enough to get by and sustain a comfortable experience. If this is where you find yourself, all I ask is that you Make A Difference For The Better.

You can make a difference here.
