Nature’s Natural Remedies: Empowered By Nature

Empowered by Nature

Trees, fresh air, lush soil, birds chirping, rivers flowing.

Just the other week I ventured into nature to unplug and get away.

Being here in Georgia, I was traveling through the lush rolling hills of the South and as usual had time to think and reconnect.

As I walked along the path, the demands of my “current” life began to fade away as the peace and harmony of nature began to fill my mind.

Budgets, deadlines and stresses slowly disappeared, transforming into steep hills, rushing water and exercise.

As I witnessed the beauty of the life that filled the forest I trekked through, I found a clear mental space open up in which I could stop for a moment and simply be.

Each time I venture into nature I discover more of nature’s natural remedies. I also find more reasons why it’s essential for us to spend less time boxed in a room, under fluorescent lights and more time outdoors.

Here are 10 Key Reasons Why We Should Venture Into Nature Today

Uncovering Nature’s Natural Remedies

10 Amazing Attributes Nature Provides Us

#1 – Clears the Mind – When we take time out of our busy lives to escape to nature we’ll find that many of the pressures from our everyday life falls away. Nature provides a clear, open space which allows the mind to observe life and provides the quietness that may be required to simply stop and be.

#2 – Strengthens the Body – One of the greatest rewards we get by venturing out and trekking through nature is exercise for the body. Each step we take, each mountain we climb and each river we cross, provides us with an opportunity to strengthen this incredible body we all enjoy.

#3 – Centers the Spirit – Nature has a way to calm our spirit. Some of the greatest places to meditate or rest in the stillness of your being is at the base of a large tree, next to a flowing river or sitting on top of a rock overlooking an amazing canyon. Great peace can be uncovered within ourselves by spending time in nature.

#4 – Stress Reliever – Some may disagree, but the best stress reliever isn’t found in a pill, a drug or a herb, the greatest stress reliever is to walk through nature, looking up at the trees above and the soil beneath. Listening to the insects and animals that fill the forests and reminding yourself that you are apart of it all. Next time you feel the need to try to cope with stress, venture into nature.

#5 – Space to Think – It’s nearly impossible in this day and age to have 3 or 4 hours of clear space to simply think. Nature provides the perfect backdrop to disconnect from technology, separate yourself from the person you’ve been creating since your first breath and be. Open space around you provides a greater space to think within yourself.

#6 – Use of All Your Senses – In nature we are able to smell fresh scents unfamiliar to our nose. Touch leaves and soil that have never been touched. Hear animals, insects and wildlife which hasn’t been heard. See vibrant colors and life as well as taste clean fresh air. There is another sense that’s used each time I venture into nature and that is my inner sense of connection, intuition and knowing that the same abundance of life I find in nature is also within me.

#7 – Fresh Air – It feels great to breathe deep and fill your lungs with fresh air while trekking through lush mountainsides, deserts or forests. It definitely beats the smog filled city streets where many of us stay.

#8 – Connection with Life – There are few places that we’re able to see the miraculous web of life more than spending time in nature. While being in nature you can better see that you are apart of it all. The same energy dividing the cells within your being, spinning electrons around the atoms within your body is the same energy that divides the cells within the tree and assists in the movement of water, air and seeds. Spending time in nature will help you better see this incredible connection.

#9 – Honor the Divine – One thing that surfaces for me each time I am in nature is an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Gratitude for this incredible planet that we’re upon and all the life upon it. As well as gratitude for the lush life above us. The stars which have went into creating this planet, the incredible sun and innumerable elements that work in harmonious ways to create this life we are able to enjoy.

#10 – Natural High – Each trip into nature has the ability to elevate our being into greater levels. In this way we naturally get higher.

Plan Your Trip

You may be like me and absolutely love nature or you may not.

Regardless where you find yourself on this spectrum, I’d like to encourage you to get up, get out and explore nature.

You don’t have to head to the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone or an uninhabited island to experience the natural remedies nature provides us.

You can go to a park near you, find a large tree and sit beneath it, head to a lake and simply observe or take a short hike.

Regardless what it may be, please spend time in nature. We need it.

  1. One of the most life-changing and greatest nature destinations I have been to was climbing up Table Mountain in South Africa to see the sunrise on my birthday. I love hiking because it really gives you a strong sense of accomplishment and just amazes me on the sheer beauty of the world below. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Hey Stacy,

I’ve always wanted to travel to South Africa but have yet to do so. I could only imagine how amazing it is out there. Until I get the chance to head across the Atlantic, I’ll have to stick to hiking throughout the states. Feeling that sense of accomplishment you mentioned above. Thanks for your comment.

    Peace,

    Jeffon
