Seeing The World With Eyes of Gratitude

When I first began Three Key Life, I made it a goal to create one gratitude post a month.

The other day, I was inspired to jumpstart the Gratitude Posts again.

Who couldn’t use more gratitude in their life?

Gratitude Post: Eyes of Gratitude

The past 5 years I’ve traveled to a small island called Roatan off the coast of Honduras.

This small island has opened a new world of possibilities and appreciation in my life. During my time there I’ve done things like help with clean water initiatives, set up sustainable farms, spearfished, sailed across the sea, worked with the entrepreneurs in the village, conducted workshops, talked with the youth, connected with nature and grew as a human being.

I just returned from a 2-week trip and was reminded how important it is to see different parts of this planet. Being surrounded by different cultures, languages, foods, sights, smells, sounds and people can work wonders for the human spirit.

With airplanes, cars, trains, and boats, we live in a time where we can accumulate our resources and travel to the remotest parts of the globe.

This past year has been the most extensive traveling I’ve done. Thanks to my speaking business, great friends, and workshops I’ve traveled to 23 different states and 3 different countries this year.

Everywhere I go I am inspired.

Inspired by the people, inspired by the uniqueness of the moment, and inspired to see the world with eyes of gratitude.

Not traveling is similar to spending your waking days staring at the same wall for months or years. Spread your wings and fly.

Need Not Go Far

When I speak of traveling, I don’t necessarily mean that you have to get your passport and book a trip to the other side of the world. While this may be inspiring and empowering, you need not venture far to see a world of inspiration.

It is easy to drive through parts of the city you’ve never been and see things from a new perspective. You can venture outside city lines and see the rural communities you may not know exist. Or my favorite, travel into nature witnessing the trees, mountains, rivers, lakes, streams, plants, and animals.

Even the smallest traveling experience can center you and bring about gratitude.

See the world and watch as you deepen your connection with yourself, your fellow man and woman, and the planet you call home.

3 Ways Traveling Makes You See The World With Eyes of Gratitude

#1 – Traveling Expands Your Mind – Traveling fuels gratitude by helping you realize all the things you have. Traveling also helps you see how your gifts could benefit and contribute to the lives of others. And if nothing else, traveling, especially to areas where poverty is more apparent makes you reevaluate the way you live your life. All of these things expand your mind into a greater direction.

#2 – Traveling Expands Your Connection – One of the greatest attributes about traveling is that it helps you see how much you have common with others. Traveling allows us to recognize our similarities with one another which ultimately brings about greater unity. Wherever you go, whether it is in your neighborhood or the other side of the globe, you have more in common with people than you may notice. This deeper connection fuels gratitude in our lives.

#3 – One Life – The reason I love traveling so much is that it reminds me that I only have one life to live. Being unwilling to travel is similar to keeping your mind in a fish bowl, unwilling to see past the room or environment you are in. Use your time on this planet to the fullest. Be inspired by the world around you and inspire the world by the way you show up.

Make It A Goal To Travel

Let traveling inspire you in the coming weeks.

Make it a goal to travel somewhere new in the next month or two.

Remember, you don’t need to go far, just be willing to see something new.

See the world with eyes of inspiration and let traveling fuel gratitude in your life.
